The Project

A financial institution with a rich history and philanthropic reputation - but an unremarkable visual brand and legacy systems - was losing market share to more nimble online banks.

MECU used quantitative and qualitative research, Net Promoter Scores, and user testing to develop a new brand identity, including:

  • Core values,

  • Visual assets, and

  • An award-winning new website.

It also introduced an educational content platform to provide financial literacy resources for existing members as well as for young professionals investing in their local communities.

Results

The rebrand encompassed all of the organization’s web, mobile, and physical properties as well as third-party applications and interfaces.

Behind the scenes, there was an exhaustive content audit and inventory, followed by a carefully orchestrated migration to replace more than 500 digital and printed forms, disclosures, and notices.

External modernization, system upgrades, and a mobile-first content strategy led to a complete digital transformation and a 45% increase in mobile visitors.
